People who undergo a weight loss program or who aspire to shed some weight should follow a good and healthy diet regularly.
A healthy diet should have the right proportions of protein, fat, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals, and water.
A right combination of these should be had in the right quantity so that you can succeed in your weight loss goals. The best combination should have about 50% to 60% of carbohydrates, 30% of fat, and 10% to 20% of protein. To guide you properly the USDA has published a food pyramid which can be looked for as a guide. This food pyramid gives you the different categories of food that are to be taken daily so that you have a healthy life. I am not a big fan of the food pyrimid because I believe the pyrimid is wrong. We should be cosuming fruits, vegetables, beans & legumes, nuts & Seeds. I suggest the food pyrimid just to give you a guide line.
The base of the food pyramid represents grains and the second from the bottom represents vegetables and fruits, and the subsequent levels indicate protein and then the fats, oils and sweets. The food items that are represented in the base of the food pyramid can be taken in large quantities and while you go up towards the apex of the pyramid you have to take them in fewer quantities. Different combinations of these foods should be present in your diet to complete a healthy diet. The right combination gives you all the nutrients required for your healthy body.
Some of the rapid weight loss programs suggest these diets for weight loss. Choose items that are non fat and lean. This helps the body to use it up for the energy needs instead of storing them as fat. Do not overeat anything. Better avoid foods that have fat, sodium, and cholesterol. When we say avoid it is not necessary that you should avoid them totally in a single meal. On an average over a week you should have taken less quantity of them. Try to learn how to read the food labels. This might help you a lot in choosing the right food when you buy them. Know about the portion size also so that you can eat the right portions to have the right calories.
